Spring is almost here and that means a new line of handbags.  Having recently unveiled our eye-catching collection for Spring/Summer 2009 on the catwalks of London, Paris and New York, we are pleased to finally unveil the Monroe Classics and Monroe Metallics to you! 

A celebration of blousy, feminine shapes and marshmallow shades; I’ve dedicated the Spring/Summer 2009 collection to film star and style icon, Marilyn Monroe. The collection, which sees each bag named after film characters played by Marilyn, denotes the return of unabashed girly glamour with sensual designs that we hope will adorn the arm of every fashionista this year.  Even half a century after her death, Monroe’s hold on the collective imagination is as prominent as ever. So, with this season, I wanted to pay homage to an icon who is a constant source of enchantment to me, and so many others.

Marilyn was always immaculately dressed and understated, so it seemed fitting to create a season of discreet luxury.  Handbags, totes and clutches in supple, grainy leathers and a sophisticated palette, all finished with the distinctive details with which we have become associated. Versatile yet distinctive, the Spring Summer 09 season will be one that blends modern metropolitan living and casual, timeless pieces, with worldwide and lasting appeal.

Here’s a resume of what’s on offer this season…
MONROE CLASSICS :
Sugar Frame – (Sugar Kane: Some Like It Hot)
Neat, frame bag with stunning piped and plaited fitting on the front flap.

Nell Shoulder/clutch –  (Nell Forbes: Don’t Bother to Knock)
Echoing the style of the Sugar bag, the Nell is a versatile clutch bag which with the help of the removable strap can be a long/short shoulder bag.
Colours: Graffiti, cement,iris,mushroom

Rose Bag – (Rose Loomis: Niagra)
Soft leather slouchy flap bag with plaited leather details and macramé handles.
Colours: Graffiti,cement,iris, mushroom

MONROE METALLICS:
Lorelei Bowling – (Lorelei Lee: Gentleman Prefer Blondes)
A large, casual bowling style bag with striking twist handles and accented trimes in metallics.   Large but well ordered to make life simpler!

Dusky Tote –  (Dusky Ledoux: Right Cross)
A stunning bag in metallic woven jute fabric with tonal leathers.  Silver and gold for maximum effect and finished with the macramé ‘malai dori’ threaded handles.

Lois Clutch Fabric – (Lois Laurel: Monkey Business)
Woven metallic jute fabric, pleated into small clutch bag with contrast frame.  Crochet and bead work detachable handle.

Lois Clutch Leather – (Lois Laurel: Monkey Business)
Heartbreaker of the season!  Leather pleated small clutch bag with detachable plaited detail strap and contrast metallic frame and piping.
